Abstract :

Sustainability is a new philosophy and vision to search for social and economic activities, production and consumption patterns, in addition to technologies that work on sustainability of development, empowering the current generation, improving its life and ensuring a suitable life for future generations.

Scientific experiments have proven that the characteristic of the Iraqi economy represented by the dominance of the oil sector is not reflected in positive results and clear structural changes on this economy and its all production and service sectors.  This total dependence on this resource makes the economy suffer from continuous crises and major problems, especially  during the drop in oil prices, so it is necessary to apply an effective economic policy to diversify sources of income and reform the structure of economic sectors.

The goals of sustainable development have been set by the United Nations in 2015 have regarded as a complement to achieve of the Millennium Development Goals that were agreed upon by the countries of the world fifteen years ago. This plan is a program of action for people, land and prosperity. It is an ambitious and comprehensive plan determines  to end poverty and hunger. It is the biggest challenge facing the world and an indispensable condition for achieving sustainable development. Achieving sustainable development goals requires building national and local capacities aimed at improving data collection processes , monitoring achievements, preparing national , local and sectoral reports, in addition to  build strong multi-stakeholder partnerships, and global partnership in international efforts aimed at achieving and promoting development, also actively participates in negotiations in various international forums on issues of development, environment and climate change, as well as emphasizing the effective implementation of relevant international agreements through cooperation.
